Don't Criticize My Plant

My plant is still just a seed,

Sitting dormant in the pot,

But waiting,

Waiting for sun and nourishment so that she can sprout into the world to show her colors.

Unabashedly, she will thrive,

reaching toward the sky with boundless ambition.

So please don’t criticize my plant.

Because then she might be afraid to grow.

She might be afraid

If she thinks she isn’t allowed to take up space

in a world that wants her to be nothing but small.
