She runs to greet me everyday
Though her breath smells nothing of roses
I know a sloppy wet kiss is on its way
I greet her with a hug and rub our noses

She is not just a dog
She is my closest friend
But today I notice she’s in a bit of a fog
So I will try to comprehend

Off to the park we go
Fetch is not her best sport
I imagine in another life she paints like Van Gogh
We return home, the rain caused us to cut the trip short

After the car ride I find her fog deserted
She spends the rest of the night contently diverted
