Do you still love me?

I knew your pain,
Your whole life was filled with it.
I made sure, I, your daughter
Wasn’t another disappointment

Ah, to be the apple of your eyes.
The daughter you’ve dreamed of.
The pride on your face;
I could just feel your love.

That pride is gone now.
It has been shattered.
You no longer look at me that way,
Nothing I ever did mattered.

I never thought such simple words,
Could wipe it all away
I couldn’t keep lying to you
“Mom, I’m gay”

I’ve been trying to be understanding
It’s a lot to take in, I know
Please don’t push me away,
Don’t make me go.

I’m sorry you are disappointed,
But that little girl is still here.
I can’t change me,
Please wipe away that tear.

I can see your sadness,
But can you see mine?
Do you still love me, Mom?
Are things going to be fine?
