Do You Ever Stop and Think?

Do you ever stop and think

About the people that you meet

Or the words that you say

And what your thoughts can convey?

Do you ever stop and think

About the boy who sits alone

Who injures himself

When nobody's home?

The boy who is the punch line

To every joke there is

The one who longs for

A single soul to ask

"How has your day been?"

  He doesn't speak.

No one listens.

He only hears

What makes him grimace.

  He has no food

But lunch still begins.

He pulls out a gun

And everyone's his friend.

Do you ever stop and think

About the victim of a bully

About what you could have said

To prevent a gun to your head?

Do you ever stop and think

About the lives you impact

By your speech and

What you do?

  It's sufficient enough to ask

How do you do?
