She comes into this world

With a cry so powerful

She isn’t quite aware what it’s for

She has yet to know what it took for her very existence

How this cry screams out the pain of her past

Of when her daddy crossed oceans with a pocket only full of his dreams

How he dared fall in love with a crippled girl light as daylight

And how he fought his Jewish God and Angels

To convince her Islamic world of his loving betrayal

Her first scream let out the anger of years filled with routing emotions

No thanks to a love forbidden by laws

By concepts comprehensible to the mind alone

Leaving the heart to wander solely making sense of such a love

A language it is only forced to learn

A love binding not only man and woman

But their love and the hatred it brings along

Their health and sickness

Their black and white

Their definite defined labels

She dares let out a cry

Without knowing of any pain

But she has a lifetime

A life time to learn the hard way
