The Dive

Location

Goggles...check.

Swimsuit....check.

Water...check.

I walk to the edge,

Ready to dive.

The cold water beats against my toes.

It's now or never!

I take a deep breath and dive in,

Head first.

Sinking underneath, quickly!

Bubbles in front of me.

Living creatures below.

Float with the fishes,

Doing tricks as I go.

Out of breath,

Start heading for the surface.

Head first,

Shoulder next.

I'm safe.

It's okay.

I made it.

Swimming towards the ladder.

One foot...SLIP!

Splash back down,

Into the cold water.

Go once more.

Dive back,

Close my eyes.

Open them and there....

In front of me

Is the beautiful sea.

Forever floating,

Seeking for more.

Now my time to go,

For I must head for shore.
