The distance

Ecclesiastes 1:9 New English Translation (NET Bible)

What exists now is what will be,
and what has been done is what will be done;
there is nothing truly new on earth.

Traveling the distance as markers on the road

are now slowly fading in my sight

It is not important to know where I am going

There’s really not a target in my plight

Smiling towards the future resting oft in places

where many in the past have stopped before

Speed now trickled down to a pace that I can handle

It seems that life itself is offering more and more

Getting used to running where walking was the norm

Not noticing much otherwise loosing about all thought

Routine has taken over and habits have taken charge

Little time here wasted for what some others bought

The ritual seems set as tradition starts forming

All should do like I in the endless race called life

Organize and plan for others when they’re coming

Remove all the obstacles for the ones making strife

Human nature at its best and not hard to find a leader

Everyone around wants to tell others what to do

All is now in place to soon be railed and defeated

“Nothing new under the sun” an ever returning truth
