Desperation

by Ariel Douglas (6 November 2014)

I see it in your eyes

Your desperate ploy for my approval

You’re believing these lies

But are loathe to assist in their removal

I’m watching it in your actions

Your desperate cries for my attention

My heart breaks by another fraction

And pounds with passionate apprehension

I see myself through your eyes

As you search and scrounge for my affection

Tears well and my soul cries

As I look into the face of my former reflection

I watch you stumble and fall over and over

You grovel and plead for just my acceptance

You weep and wallow like a battered lover

Not knowing that I see right through your pretense

I will give you my approval

Of who you were created to be

I will help you be jovial

In the way of the Joy within me

I will give you all of my attention

So that you will know that I care

I will help mend your wounded condition

And your trouble I too will bear

I will give you all of my affection

The love that has been given to me

I will love each tattered section

Of I life I have yet to see

I will give you my acceptance

And reveal to you the truth

I will show you into the protective fence

I will show you the proof

I approve because He created you

I am attentive because He cares too

I love you because it’s what His love bids me do

I accept you because no one is too broken to be made new
