Dependence

Though I am free,

You could enslave me

Like a master that enslaves scholars.

Though I am resistant,

You could poison me

Like a predator that poisons its prey

Though I am tough,

You could consume me

Like a shark that consumes a wrasse.

Though I am full of life,

You could kill me

Like a parasite that kills its host.

Though I am strong,

You could maul me

Like a caged animal that mauls its keeper.

Though I am protective,

You could exploit me

Like a man that exploits his inheritance.

Though I am rich,

You could bankrupt me

Like a spoiled child bankrupts his parents.

But why

My master

My predator

My shark

My parasite

My pet

My heir

My child

Would you be so foolish?
