A Declaration of Love

The rain pattering upon the smooth glass of my window soothes me

The darkness that surrounds me calls out my name

I light I found in your voice so many years ago refuses to leave my heart

I'd like to be called to fantasy, but only if I found you by my side

The sunset is dimmer

Less brilliant without you

The stars never shine and I'm left with nothing but a cold emptiness

You push me away

Yet I keep coming back

I wish to kiss your tears in the darkness

I refuse to be betrayed in light

I go after you even after you run away from me

Despite everything

I love you

This love is unrequited

This is a fact that cannot be overlooked

Yet here I am

Declaring it

Because I would rather go my whole life

Knowing why we would never be

Than live with the haunting "What if?"
