Dear You

Dear you,

Dear best friend,

Dear soulmate,

Dear boy from art class my freshman year of high school,

Dear boy who made me realize to love myself,

Dear boy who makes me hate myself,

Dear jake,

Thank you.

Thank you for being my shoulder to cry on.

Thank you for being my friend when no one else would be, for being my ride home when i missed the bus, for sending me a new song everyday.

Thank you for ice cream dates and letters when you thought of me, for 3am calls and texts when i needed you, and for not listening to your friends when they told you i was “bad news”

Thank you for vanishing after 4 years of speaking everyday, for toying with me and manipulating me after you left for college, and for calling me crying and saying how much you needed me, just to stop answering my texts when you bagan to sober up.

Thank you for not speaking to me or giving me a reason why

Thank you for making me stronger.

Thank you for helping me to realize that it wasn’t you I needed in my darkest moments, for making me realize i could do it on my own.

Dear you,

Dear Best friend,

Dear Jake,

Thank you.
