Dear Grandma

Dear Grandma,

Thank you for being the only person really there for me,

Thank you for giving me advice at a young age. Despite not understanding it then, the words you spoke are still fresh in my mind.

Thanks for caring for me when my mom could not, even though it was a temporary thing turned permanent.

Thanks for still caring for me despite everything I have done to disappoint you. I am sorry.

I am sorry I was never really appreciative for everything you did for me until it was too late.

I hope you see how hard I am trying to make you proud.

I hope you're able to see me clean up my act and do great things.

Thank you for loving me. I know you do even though those three words never escape your mouth.

Dear Grandma, I love you.

Sincerely yours,

Gabrielle Monasingh
