Dear God

Dear God,

She queried with a plea,

How can people do these horrible things,

And commit them to thee?

A murder here,

Hate crime there,

Everyone living in fear,

How is it fair?

The love of your neighbor

No longer exists

There is no longer favor,

No longer can our problems easily be fixed.

Dear God

How can life go on as so?

There are only so many lives we can lose

There are only so many people to go.

Dear God

Why do your children act this way?

Why do they think they act in your name?

Dear God,

The say “we believe”

Then they go breaking hearts

Putting people on the streets

Tearing families apart

Under the two words “We believe”

Dear God

How can people be so cruel?

They eating meat while we eat gruel?

Dear God,

They fatten themselves

While we starve

They say they know thee, and thy will

But they are wrong –

As our family and friends bodies become still

The nights are cold and long

Dear God

Help me be strong

Help me to know thee,

Help me to never forget

I know that thou knowest me

And as I follow thee, I have no regret.

Dear God

Do they know thee?

In my opinion, nay

But we all have our own religious beliefs

We all have the right to believe in you our own way

Dear God,

We do not have the right to rip away others lives for our belief

Dear God

Please offer your children relief

Dear God

We believe
