Dear board of education
Dear board of education
We scream ... but you dont not listen
You teach us about freedom of speech
Just as long as we dont use it in terms of expression
You say its great to have a voice just as long as you dont use it
So they've been built only to keep under restriction?
But you taught us that rosa parks said no
Dr.king still marched
Mandela, Douglass and Susan B Antony were still heard
So that means thers hope right?
But wait ... i remember learning about the constitution
"How we all have freedom of speech"
"Freedom of expression "
And "right to Possession "
Yet our voices are still kept under your jurisdiction
Hearing us but refusing to listen
Dear board of education
This is why we scream and shout
So you can finally take the time to hear us out
Telling us we have an opinion but not granting us the wish for you to listen
Yet you wonder why we are always hesitant when asked a question
Fear pulling at the back of our throats is making us coke on our own answers
So we dont understand whether or not you're asking a trick question
Dear board if education
No child left behind is a poor excuse for a slogan
When our voices have been left behind so that only we can hear them
Dear board of education
They say that student involvement helps improve
School reputation
But were only allowed to get involved when we go with your opinions
What happened to expression?
ever since we were little you taught us to speak up and stand out
But dear board of education
As i got older i realized how my voice got silenced
I have placed it in your hands so that it could be left behind...
I have been left behind
But
Now that i am finally using my voice,i can tell that you do not like it
Influencing others with my way of expression is making you nervous...
but dear board of education
As more students find their voice we will turn into a symphony
And you will no longer be able to Block Us Out
