Dead Flowers Can't Blossom

One day I want you to smile at me

that dimple forming in your cheek

with knowing eyes

that we will be together

Not today

not tomorrow

sometime though

when we both know it to be true

I adore you

with a bittersweet tenderness

darling one day

you can have all of me

For now

let's just be

no complexity

sugary smiles and risk-free laughter

and if that day never comes

I swear we did it all wrong

with care

please though

just open your door
