Daylight Dream

God has given me a daylight dream

With the gentlest of shoves, he pushes me

I can’t breathe

I pick up my pen,

Write my soul

With his inspiration,

Heart of gold

Don’t leave me alone.

Time only tells my one heart’s woe

Step back from the fray

And pray,

I need this chance.

But you don’t see me,

And you believe

That I don’t see you at all

Things out of books

Don’t happen to me

Yet sitting on this mountain

In a storybook scene

Makes me think that,

Just perhaps

We’re both thinking the same thing

Time only tells my one heart’s woe

Step back from the fray

And pray,

I need this chance.

But you don’t see me,

And you believe

That I don’t see you at all

God gave me a perfect dream

That left me feeling weary

Now things have changed

And I became

Alone, scared and more wary

Time has told my only woe

My chance to love you is gone

But I know I’ll beat this daylight dream

Even if I must do it alone

Time only tells my one heart’s woe

Step back from the fray

And pray,

I need this chance.

But you don’t see me,

And you believe

That I don’t see you anymore

I will see you evermore

I will love you evermore
