The Day I Woke To an Almost Good Day

A church I say, a church
For only God knows the boundaries of his creations
The beautiful children of my kind step forth here every Sunday
Praise is what they do, just praise
And when I step forth on my alter I know their safe
For church are peace, love, and home
But not this day
The sanctuary today be diminished with the sacrifice of thy innocent
To prove what I say, to prove I shall never understand
For I never dreamed that the pigment of skin was so very important
Significant enough to tarnish the place of God
Boom! Crash! Ahhh!
The sounds will never leave my holy mind
Poor victims of such evil, poor victims
Momma, daddy, brother, and sister come home tonight missing one
One of four for every household altered
And may God rest his soul for now we can make a change.
