Dawn

I reached out to the sun, but he burned me

No matter how I approached, I was scorched.

The sun seemed to burn brighter each day for months

I wanted to be close, to feel the warmth

Oh but the scars I earned…

Slashed at every angle

Then there was the moon

I was without her for too long

Loneliness seemed to consume me

Without her, where was I to look for help?

I ran endlessly, trying to find the edge of the world

The rocks tore at my feet, leaving a red trail

My eyes blazed green from the tears

The wind whipped at my cheeks, howling in my ears, mocking me

This place was unfamiliar

Save me

I ran into the ocean

Thrown from wave to wave

I saw a new sun on the horizon

Would I reach it?

My body was torn

My lungs were burning

The oxygen was ice

Was there no end to this typhoon?

How many more times could I go under!

Would this pain ever cease?

Now here I stand at the base of a new mountain

Stronger, bolder

With bared teeth and no one around me

Through each trial I will rise

I will reach the edge of the world

Me
