Daughter of the Mask

Smile.
They don't care for you.
Laugh.
They don't care if it's true.
Talk.
They all think it's real.
Walk.
They all think you feel.

They don't know, they've never known.
They could never tell, not by your voice or tone.
They've never know that you've hurt for a while.

We're all the same, we act like tiles.
All the same, cookie cut shape
They never knew that you were a fake.
The mask you put on, for everyone to see.
All your friends, teachers, and even your family.

You put on that same mask, not for days, not months, but years.
Yelling, screaming, yet silence, and your own silent tears.
And so you wake up every morning, put on the same mask
The mask that ends up being your greatest task

All these years, they don't know, they've never known.
They could never tell, not by your voice or tone.
No one can know.
