The desires overwhelm us,

As we look into the darkness.

Even though we want to tread forward,

Life pushes us back,

Telling tales of reality and fear.

Fear tell us of the problems,

of insufficient funds, 

And of our weak scores

On our tests and reports,

Showing us how dark the darkness is.

Reality speaks of requirements, 

To make money and have a job,

To be smart,

To even have hope for ourselves,

Points us to the darkness.

So we look at the light 'round,

We find what has to be done,

By studying our hearts out,

By writing essay after essay,

We run into the darkness.

With our hopes we look

To our desires

We find financial mean,

through our writing, our voice,

and wink at life as we move forward, into the darkness.
