Darkened Heart

Pull me down and watch me plunder,

Because I was tamed by love and thunder.

Give me your wing to hide under,

Because I am sacred, and I am stubborn.

Grace is hiding in the cupboard,

And I am calling to you brother.

"Come and see what I've uncovered!"

Find me in the dark,

Aid me back, I’ll praise then depart.

Hide me with your dead!

I've a live heart, but dyeing flesh.

I used to behave, but that was in earlier days.

I used to betray this evil I’ll one-day escape.

See this child scream and shutter!

Tell me this world does not suffer!

It’s then we stare at one another,

Meanwhile hiding our guns and shovels.

Yes, I will die beneath theses covers,

While I try to call out to the others,

"Come and see what I've uncovered!"

Come see what I have let take place!

This heart is shrouding lust and shame!

Though, I’m not one to misbehave,

at least not in the light of day.

For years I let it weld these chains,

But now a darkened heart filters my veins

So, watch as I begin to fade

Don't run, but promise me & say

"I still love you all the same!"

Catch me in the dark!

Take me back, untill I fray with the stars.

Hide me with your dead!

I've a live heart, but dyeing flesh.

I used to behave, but that was in earlier days.

I used to betray this evil I’ll take to the grave.
