Daddy dont drink any more

Location

Australia

Put down the bottle Daddy
I know you hate the feeling of dealing
With all the problems.
What's that grown up drink have that helps you when you struggle.
Alcohol can't fix what you don't want to handle.
You grab the bottle like it's the handle of a gun, one, two, three shots then your done
You drink it like it's the last bullet in a fully loaded gun;
Like you don't want to see the sun.
Are you afraid of what your life will be in the long run.
Do you drink because your father did,
Because he drank away the memory of his only son.
Was he your loaded gun.
Are you ashamed to be the third generation of alcoholic son's.
Do you even know what you've become?
Are you afraid of the damage done.
Maybe that's why You don't show any self love.
You saw what mommy's addiction did to us children.
Are you going to be another definition of weaker than addiction?
When you stumble into the kitchen,
You never give any sort of hesitation
To change the statistics of a long line of family traditions.
Did you chose not to pass on your family name to try and break the addiction train?
What's the real reason?
I try to make you proud, but I'm never enough in your opinion.
I'll live my whole life to change your decision.
Your kids all left home because they wern' t good enough to you, I'm sorry for leaving
But I couldn't keep on breathing the toxicity of what you believe in.
Maybe one day your kids will come home to prove you all wrong.
To show you we didn't need you to believe in us to be some one important.
