Consumption

Tue, 02/07/2023 - 09:13 -- Janie25

All at once you were my rock

And the hand grenade I was too distracted to throw

I knew you would destroy me

I felt it in my bones

But how delicious it sounded to be consumed

Because where else would I go?

Besides it was warm there in the belly of the beast

I just wanted to rest awhile

The beast consumed me

In the way only love can

Ripped me apart every day

But I forgave you when you gathered the pieces

Some days I woke up and thought to run

But the snare would snatch me back again

And there I found myself in the belly of the beast

Stay here awhile

Go back to sleep

You’ll need your rest
