Constant

You're the only one who's always there.

You're the only one who really cares.

You never leave me.

Where would I be

If You weren't by my side?

You control the tide.

You hold the stars in place.

You set the clouds on their race

Across the sky each day.

The dew of the morn You lay

Upon the grass You made.

With a strong voice, You bade

The sun come forth.

Though not from the North,

You could make it so.

You make the trees grow.

I praise Your great name!

Moon and earth play their ancient game

Which You designed them for.

And each time they soar,

You say it is good.

You do much more, and You could

Do anything You wish,

Even turn me into a fish.

Yet, You, the King of all,

Care for me, though I'm so small.

I'm nothing that You should mind.

Yet You forever bind

Me to Your love so sweet.

You never leave Your mighty seat.

In my life, I have seen

Many a person glean

And say farewell.

Who can tell,

But You, whether I'll see them before Heaven?

They leave seven by seven.

My heart breaks,

And Yours aches

For my blind soul,

Almost like a ghoul.

Then my slow heart remembers You

And that You are always true.

I run again to You,

For what else can I do?

You never change, You stay the same,

Although You're far from tame.

You remain constant forever.

You will not leave me, ever.

Even when I run from Your grace,

You show me Your holy face,

And I fall upon mine.

You invite me to dine.

You seek me out.

Even when I skulk and doubt,

And curse Your name,

You stay the same.
