Confessions of an Awkward Poet (and human being)

Fri, 01/31/2014 - 23:54 -- Kwillz

Vivid poetry shows imagery of what life should be…

(hold on, deep breath, enunciate, speak louder)

MY VIVID POETRY SHOWS IMAGERY OF WHAT LIFE COULD BE …..

If I wrote it.

Perfected penmanship misspelling

Erors (errors)

And blimishes (blemishes)

That overshadow craftsmanship

Every.

Single.

Time.

(dramatic pause inspired by nerves, not thematic suspense)

Careful articulations of alliterations

Taken as lessons

WHEN

Fate rolled mistakes into crude packages

forgetting the legality of dreaming

inhaling consequences under the stars ….

My decisions,

written so eloquently in a creative writing assignment titled:

Peer Pressure is a B!@TCH!!

That I never submitted

to ensure perfect scores on

writing samples of

choked on clichéd heart references

Chugged through a funnel made of pitiful memories

and

posted on Facebook…..

Because writing love poems are perfect

Even when you have no one to love….

                                               (ummmmm……)

And you think no one loves you

                                   (deep breath, wooosah)

That’s why logic made us comparisons

And I think I thought you were better

Because Instagram told me you were beautiful

Until I realized your meticulously articulated metaphors

Created flawed poetry too.

Just like me…

And her….

and him….

Judged by immaculate standards created

by failures

that never failed

to fail

at failing …

flipping through life

and ripping out pages of regrets

tossing them

into past winds

scattered

to be found

by poets who believe

life’s imperfections makes our poetry beautiful
