The Colors of Spring

Spring is golden like a long awaited sun

it is golden like the dying snow buried grass,

and it’s golden just as a young child’s innocence.

Spring is also red like a rose just beginning to bloom

it is red like a t-shirt hung outside on the clothing line,

and it is red just as the fire in a child’s soul,

as they gain ambitions for the approaching summer.

Most of all spring is green, like the sprouting buds on trees

it is green like a frog croaking on a lily pad,

and it is green just as new life is which blooms with every drop of rain and ray of sun.

If Pocahontas can paint with all the colors of the wind,

I will paint the world with my words.
