Colorblind

Shots fired, sirens in the air filling everyone's head.

Breaths are getting harder to take and tears getting harder to hold.

The unfinished life of an innocent man, remains a mystery,

his life now just history.

His daughter, looking into that cop's eyes

With the certain complexion of concern

asking "why?" repeated while getting louder each time.

Was it his color of skin, or did he just not look the same as you?

When walking by, what made you change your point of view?

The way god made each and every human remains in certainty,

so why should having to change who you are be a priority.

"he is not the same" "she looks dirty" "they don't deserve to live"

These things being said, the pain they bring,

families being scared they might not make it to spring.

But now the truth is exposed, there is nowhere to hide.

We all see your true colors and we shall stand side by side,

for all that think otherwise, we see your bind.

But to think you are doing right with murder,

That just makes you colorblind.
