Color is only a perception
Only visible waves of light
Where equality was only a deception
Where 'seperate but equal' was considered right

The mistreatment of man
Because of the pigmentation of skin
Ideas of inferiority due to color began
Only few knew of this horrible sin

Few knew to look past color
With revolutionary views they led the movement
They saw the pain and the squalor
They saw a world of vast improvement

These wise men and women managed to incite
A most needed end to the color plight
