The Closet

I am trapped

in this place.

It is dark,

dark as night.

I try to escape,

try to leave,

With a flag of pink, blue, and white,

but society pushes

right back in.

You are a disgrace.

They say.

You are a girl,

as you always have been.

You always will be.

Throw away that jersey,

don’t slouch.

Put on a dress

and be femme.

Be what you were born as.

You are not a boy.

You are a girl.

Be a girl.
