A clay pot

Romans 8:8-13           New English Translation

8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person does not belong to him. 10 But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is your life because of righteousness. 11 Moreover if the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, the one who raised Christ from the dead will also make your mortal bodies alive through his Spirit who lives in you.

12 So then, brothers and sisters, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh 13 (for if you live according to the flesh, you will die), but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body you will live.

Christ lives in us, an earthen vessel, “Glory to His Name”

When He quickens my spirit, my life won’t be the same

My spirit then comes alive and my body stay in death

Here I stand before you now, half awake and half in bed

My inner-estate is breathing, my outer-estate in a coma

My inner-being flows with life and my outer in a casket

The shell my inner lives in is seeming without a program

But when it comes to a task the outer leaks like a basket

Glory to God’s Son to adopt a body like mine

If any good comes out of it, it is surely then it’s His

My own righteousness only appears like dirty stains

But Jesus in His Holiness took me and made me His

The excellence of the Power of God in us be standardized

Any good that is found in here must be straight from God

Others then will see us as being outside of ourselves

And filled with Christ’s righteousness as on this earth we plod

In the flesh, it's impossible to please the God of Heaven

But we are not in the flesh anyway, but alive in the Spirit

If in Christ, your body is dead, because of its sinful nature

However God can bring life to it so Salvation to inherit

According to the flesh, we’ll die, but by the Spirit’s power

We’ll put to death the deeds of the body and so we will live

For Christ lives by the Holy Spirit and in us can do wonders

That He did when He walked on earth as through love He gives
