Claws

There is a monster

rooted within in

It tears down walls,

walls of sanity

borders of rationality

Frenzy rushes through

Unprotected, I am afraid

The monster grows

it consumes

Lightning in a field

it destroys

Boot upon the frail

it crushes

Pounding down hope

that raises to the light

Ugly monster

Monster that feeds

on fear and doubt

which burst forth

unrestrained from mind

There is a monster

Rooted deep within me

A monster I created

when I let doubt

storm the castle

and run away

with all happiness

And now here I lay

with claws in my mind

and doubt in my heart.
