A City of Broken Dreams

I come from a city where there's nothing but broken dreams. I'm from Jacksonville, Florida. Everyone here is an "upcoming rapper" trying to make a name for themselves, but not many face the reality that not everyone makes it oout of Duval as a rapper. In order to be successful, you have to leave Jacksonville. Most people here only know Jacksonville, they don't have the resources to even leave the city limits. Everyone wants to rap and produce, but want to complete high school or even think about the good a college education will do. Without one or both you don't have the fundamentals to know the basics. People want to be known in the streets but not in school. Being uneducated isn't the way to go. You should want to be the person who beats the odds. Jacksonville is a city full of broken dreams and I will not fall to be a victim of this place; I want to be the young woman to beat the odds and say I wasn't a victim. I want to have a new start in life.
