Circles of growth, that lead to a man

Thu, 06/27/2019 - 16:51 -- sagetj

When I was a little boy my father taught me about circles,

I learned how you end up where you started from,

“But in the journey” he said “you learn something new;”

“And it’s when you learn something new that the journey begins,”

So you end up where you start but you start with something new,

Because if you draw circles like father taught me…you’ll learn when you’ve grown.

So all my life I saw the shapes He described,

But it wasn’t till later on I knew what he said,

About ending up where you began with new knowledge and fears;

But it’s the knowledge and fears that make you a better man,

 Later on I contemplated what he said,

About the shapes of life that he described.

When I met a man who looked to me for help,

I was afraid and couldn’t speak,

For I didn’t want to lead him astray;

For if he was lead astray,

It was because of something that I said,

So I met this man and gave him my word.

Then I realized for the first time,

That I was now responsible for someone other than me,

This caused a tempest of emotion to swell;

And with this swelling motion,

I took responsibility,

This was the first time I realized I was grown.

But now I realized I was still me nothing had changed,

I was back at the beginning you see,

with more knowledge and fears but also with responsibilities;

These responsibilities would not stop,

Even if we were back at the beginning starting something new,

I then realized I had indeed changed I was grown.

So even though we all become newbies at things in our lives,

And we become experts then go to the beginning of a new journey,

We must remember that growing up can be realized;

By remembering to realize the circles in our lives,

So when you’re an expert on circles and the journey,

We cease to be newbies and grow at things in our lives.

That’s what father taught me about circles of growth.
