Chocolate Skin

Chocolate Skin

By: Sharecka Byrd

Dear Chocolate Skin,

They say your black, black as night.

Your nose too big, your eyes too big, your hair too…nappy.

Why do they say such things Chocolate Skin?

Your skin is as pure as the tree it grew from.

Your hair, the soil, the dirt that nourished it.

Eyes grow big to see further than man ever could.

Nose to breathe in the richness of your breath.

Curves adorn your body.

From your toes to your crown.

Dear Chocolate Skin, you are the heavens wonders, desires, and life.

Never say you are not enough.

You are enough for you.
