Childhood Friend

I met you when I was young

And reckless

I ran to you when I felt dumb

And headless

You forced me to paint pain into progress

As I progressed from someone who scribbled words

To someone who penned stories

The glory, never being critical acclaim

But just being able to come face to face with shame

Even if it was just on a piece of paper.

This poem is about:
Me
