The Child
Location
A child alone
in a broken down town
A boy with tattered cloth
of black, grey, and brown
Alone in a world
all on his own
He had nothing to himself
and nothing he owned
An orphan enslaved to work for his master
he worked in the day
and in nighttime faster
A child with no food
weeping and dying
He knew the life he lived
was broken and lying
They promised a life an elegant offer
But this child in this town
became just a scoffer
"A child alone
in a broken down town"
calls a loud voice
a man with a crown
Beckoning all who would come to him
beckoning that boy
who is not known to grin
He offers new garments
to be clothed
anew
A new home for the boy
whose smile had soon
grew
The boy looked back
to the broken down town
He hated the clothes
and the home
that made his soul frown
Child in a home
lonely no more
The rich had come
and given life to the poor
He left that place
Solely by grace
because beforehand in treason
the child spat in the kings face
But there was a price paid long ago
of which
this child has come to know
That humble king sent to go
a sacrifice
for his love to show
So now the son sees his share
which he now has
as an heir
He eternally loves that king of kings
glorious forever
his soul shall sing.
