Chasing the Sun

Mon, 07/06/2015 - 20:09 -- mckinv

fighting against the wind of expectation

avoiding the clouded skies of society's examination

tuning out claps of opinionated thundering sounds

lit up by strikes of judgmental lightening rounds

cowering beneath the brewing above the land of the free

but what makes you stay?

don't you see there's another way?

allow determination to itch underneath

to lash back at the hurricane's feast

that attacks those of the very least

what is freedom with pressure to follow the norm?

where does it say 'the pursuit to conform?'

take a moment to ponder the meaning

of a "united nation of freedom"

they pound in the words "pusuit of happiness"

but assault indivuality until there isn't any left

they say 'learn to dance in the rain'

but where is the choice in this pain?

no where does it read 'sit in the downpour

and enjoy living soaked to the core'

so why wait for the sun to scare the typhoon

when we can run to the sun twenty times more soon?
