A Change to Take, A Change to Make

The change is yours,

The future is your course.

We guide ourselves,

As well as those to come.

Stop complaining,

Take a stand.

Words are not louder,

Than the action at hand.

We live in a world,

Bigger than the needs,

of only one person.

You, with a reliable meal every night,

I wish I was you.

You, with the financial background,

To assure you that you'll go to college,

I wish I was you.

You, able to buy everything you'd ever need,

I wish I was you.

Yet still I know, others live worse than I.

My needs are not more important than anyone else's.

All I wish is for change.

Change to make my life better.

To go to college,

To eat every night,

To have the money,

To put up a fight.

For change, however, I must take a stand.

Help is what I seek,

Help is what I need.

Work is what they demand.

To have a nightly meal,

I work two jobs.

To go to college,

I work as hard as possible

In high school,

hoping, begging,

for the chance of a scholarship.

To make the change I long for,

I must take the chances,

I am given.

To take the change I wish for,

I must strive to give,

What has been given.
