Change

America

Land of the free, Home of the Brave

Oh how dearly, America needs to change

We have opportunity for the rich

But very limited for the poor

And it leaves many wanting more

My parents came to this country

With a visa and a name

Twenty years later,

Do they think their decision in vein

With a degree, my father worked a minimum wage job

And my mother for those who you would call a snob

Through it all they didn’t complain

Just hoped my brother and I would not have to experience the pain

Immigrant in America

A change is to come

You may feel like nothing when the day is done

But America is changing and the times are new

Your suffering will no longer continue

Because America is not the America it once was

A new boss has come

And he is implementing new laws

America is changing and the times are new

Before you know it little immigrant

Your visa will not be renewed

This poem is about:
My family
My country
