Change

I have to ask “Are we really alive?”

We spend our time sitting, staring at a screen,

We’ve forgotten the search of a billion years

For what it all truly means.

A person is murdered, no one even flinches.

When it’s a thousand, we call it a statistic.

Everyone expects to be taken care of,

But no one wants to be the one to do it.

Nothing changes, nothing works,

And all we ever do is complain.

If that’s what’s going to happen,

If that’s all there is, why even try?

But try we must, in order to make that change

That history expects of us, otherwise we’ll

Be lost in the history of time. This can’t be allowed to happen,

We have to have this change. Change we must,

Or we’ll just continue to sit and stare at our screens.
