A Challenge To Remember

Tue, 05/03/2016 - 20:58 -- najah19

A number two pencil and a blank paper

sat on my desk.

My teacher, with gall,

said, " My poems are the best"

So I looked at her,

deep in her brown eyes, and wondered,

"Why is she telling us lies?"

Different thoughts swirled in my head.

Surely she's in none of the history books we've read.

"No one can be better than me".

With that I stood up and shouted with glee,

" I'll be the best at poetry! You'll see!"

When class was over I hurried and left,

to go home and prepare my poem to show my teacher that I'm the best.

At the start of class it was time to compare

my poem to hers; The ultimate dare.

And at that moment,

I droppd my jaw

Her paper was blank

as far as my tiny eyes saw!

" No one's poem can be better than yours",

she told the class.

" Well thanks for telling me

after I went home and busted my a-"

Well after that I went home,

And laid on my back.

When it comes to poetry,

I'll  never forget that!
