Cautious Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the town,

All the doors were shut tight, the houses locked down.

The alarms were set by each door with care,

In hopes that a burglar soon wouldn’t be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds

Except for a young girl, who’s head filled with dread.

With Ma and Pa sleeping, she was ready and armed

With an 8 inch dagger; she wouldn’t be harmed.

When out in the yard there was a great clang,

Her worst fears were triggered, a 50 men gang?

She jumped out of bed, rifle in hand

Prepared to unleash the attack she had planned.

Running like lightning to the hall downstairs,

Found Santa, asleep, in their big leather chair.

Her scream pierced the silence of the cold winter night,

Causing all of the neighbors to wake in a fright.

He he, she chuckled her face quite relieved,

“Its just Santa, oh well. Silly old me”

She climbed up to bed, all tuckered out.

Protecting your family, that’s what Christmas is about.
