Cautionary Tale

Location

Words that are for the wisdom we choose to seek

Predators circle its prey until its last breath

Dictators watch as it its it solemn flesh

Stuck in one’s mind of the already decided

Choices that are not from our own desire

Stroked on the head by a caring heart

Soon of granted to be taken

 Words cannot help you now

You are weak like a foal’s first step

Yet rich in bounty as a king who has never been fought

As the world breaks you down to your core

You find solace in an unworthy place

Warnings of its disgrace in its path

Empty handed you leave on to the next

Only to find the treasure you had passed by long ago

The place of no outer light, was the brightest star of them all

Too far have you trotted for any return

The gold has been capture, jewelry been worn

It clutches tight to another’s arm

If only my caution was heard
