Carrying the Fire

Wed, 11/27/2013 - 14:55 -- PDolan

Don't be discouraged when they fight your beliefs

When they attack you for what you know to be right

The are simply afraid of you

You present a threat to their narrow world view

You are a flame which must be extinguished

Your bright light makes them shrink and fight back

And when they laugh at you for your deepest dreams

It cuts deeper than any blow

At least you know where you stand with fists.

But do not be afraid

Do not lose hope

We mock what we do not understand

We fear what we cannot control

They fear you

They fear what you stand for

They fear your light and heat

They fear the fire.
