A Candle on the Sill

A balanced world knows both darkness and light.
The sun must set and the moon must rise.

Goodness and evil fight like fencers—
quick, scoring hits to the others defenses.

Sometimes, evil gains the upperhand
and the light is doused in darkness again.

But not everything is evil and not everything is cold.
The good sunlight is strong, warm, and bold.

For darkness is merely the absence of light.
So light the candle on the sill, and wait out the night.
