Can You Hear Me Now?

Location

Sometimes I feel my voice closed

And silenced from the world.

It seems no one could hear my heart scream

So desperately, I had hoped

That writing was the key.

When I anticipated with excitement for one thing

And I hope for you to know.

You hush me quick and push me back

So I wrote to you, Sis

Hoping for you to write back.

When adversity rolls upon my fields,

I’ve screamed for a hand

And squirmed from the pain

I’ve been kicked to the ground

And tossed aside

Mother, do you hear my cries?

When engulfed in warmth that felt so sweet

I knew the spell of love was cast on me.

So I transferred my song onto paper,

Hoping my words would reach you later.

When the situation seems dire

And my hopes were torched and burned

I know you gave me your word

So God, in writing shall my prayer be heard.

And if joy was a lasting pleasure

I wish I can share it with you forever

And if we shall ever forget

My friend,

We can hear our story on paper again.

My new world formed from my silence,

Letters, characters, and words.

When stricken with emotion

And I write it down,

Everyone,

Can you hear me now?
