Calling It Love

Dear boyfriend,

You utter unoriginal, clichés into my ears that sink and make me feel validated.

You touch me with sinful purposes so that I feel like I might have a purpose.

You spill blinding light into my dark voids and lead the light into my soul,
so that I can tell myself you’re helping me.

You trap me in your endless little games chain me up and force me to play along so that we may pretend like this is real.

You tie me down so that I don’t float off into the unknown, into the known emptiness that comes with loneliness.

You kiss me and let me taste every
false compliment and every plagiarized imitation of what a girl wants to hear.

You use me the way i want to be used,
so that we may be tied down together
in a process of lying and breaking each other and calling it love.

You and I are not in love.

Sincerely,

Your ex girlfriend
