Burning

You can’t hold me.

Don’t drag me down

My soul is on fire

And I can’t hear the sound

Of your fears

If it’s simpler for you to be a liar

Then stay far away

I don’t need you anyway

Just keep swallowing your words

Go ahead,

Choke them down

You think you know what to say

But what you let slip

From inside your head

Is all fake

I’m purging your spirit from within me

I don’t need a projection

Of what you think I want

You need me so bad

Because you can’t see what you have

I’m over selfish games and words

Don’t tell me what I am

I am the commander

Of this world

And what I become

So sorry, son

I won’t be your light in the night

A fighter against tears

I won’t be your knight in shining armor

Or your champion through the years

You can’t become what I want

Because if you were,

You wouldn’t need change

You’d cherish your being

And for mine do the same

You are nothing but a shell

Begging to be filled

If only you could see who you are

I thought I did

Oh well.

I guess we were just strangers

Laughing in hell
