the burnholes and change

who are we now

sometimes i don't feel like we're the same souls

whose eager teeth met by the brick river

on days like this i wonder

what it would be like to be us again-

the us we were when we laid just existing

without knowing what the words were-

without needing to.

on days like this i'd give up every peaceful sleep i haven't yet slept

for one more wide-eyed night with you

under the stars of the burnholes in your blanket
