Broken we stand, ready to comfort.

No one slips through the cracks?
“All men were created equal.”
“We are our brother keeper.”
“No man is above the law,
And no man is below it.”
“Six feet of earth make all men equal.”
Watch as we slip through the cracks.

Ruled and yet unseen,
Women are held to a higher standard;
Yet, given so much less.
We are expected to be one way,
And are given no chance, not one,
To even prove we are capable of more.
Still ruled and yet unseen.

We have stood at the center of time.
We witnessed proud men
Walk onto a blood red field
And end each other,
Whether by arrow, blade, bullet, or fire,
All men die equals,
And we continue to stand at the center of time.

We do not blame you.
You were never taught better,
Neither were we.
All of us, men and women,
Were told the same lie
And forced to believe.
So we don’t blame you.

But it still hurts,
Being looked down on for something we can’t help,
Being told we are worthless,
Be pushed and guided,
Being made to believe we are nothing,
God it hurts.

Strong men stood ,
They said that color didn’t matter.
That we shouldn’t be ruled
For something we are born with.
Yet they suffered for a few hundred years,
And we a few thousand.
Where are the strong men now?
